Right now on BBC News 24, there is a Muslim spokesman in Birmingham saying he doesn't trust the government, and asking, "Why are Muslims being targetted as terrorists? Anyone can be a terrorist!"

Well, yes — but the bombers recently were Muslims, and the current threat comes solidly from within the Islamic community. It is a tiny part of the Islamic community, but only someone with their head rammed firmly into the sand could believe that there is an equal chance of terrorists in Britain being non-Muslim. I can understand Muslims not liking that, but they do their community no favours by pretending that what they don't like isn't true.

Dr. Strangelove: Ve must not allow a virgin gap!

I guess the stockpiling of virgins in paradise for the suicide bombers explains their complete disappearance from this part of the world.

The same spokesman cropped up later on News 24 (he's the one with the obvious wig), and this time the studio anchor tackled his bizarre witterings. He was muttering about the "secret service" arresting people, and the BBC bod pointed out that the arrests had been made by the police, to which he said something about "not the ordinary police, special police". He then started to say something fairly difficult to follow about how "normal legal procedure should be followed", and the BBC guy caught that, too, pointing out that normal legal procedures were being followed, people had been arrested under the relevant acts and were being detained for questioning as per the provisions of those acts.
