Most "pagans" have a foolish bias against the Palestinans and Lebanon and anyone else that Israel bullies around; the pro-Israel sentiment is very high in the west because of dishonest pro-Israel media, promulgated by Britain and the US- as well as some foolish notion that Israel is somehow a "chosen" or "holy" nation.
Real heathens should stand up for opressed people, regardless. People fear standing up to Zionist terror because the dominant forces of media and opinion accuse people who are against the Zionists of being "Anti-semitic", which is absurd.
I mean, notice how it's okay for people to talk bad about Arabs or ignore their plight- but that's funny, isn't it? The Arabs are ALSO semites. To hate them, call them terrorists, ignore them, isn't that the REAL "anti-semitism"?
Actually, in my experience, most Pagans I've met IRL were very much pro-Palestine and considered the 'freedom for Palestine' marches almost a religious duty.
Even online, I've seen very few people who would take a pro-Israel approach.
Your profile says you live in Louisiana - it'd be somewhat difficult for us to move in the same RL circles.
I was just disputing your use of 'most Pagans', when I suspect you've not even met most Pagans. Perhaps you just meant 'most Pagans in my area' or 'most Pagans I've met'? Either of those terms would convey a very different - and less martyred - message.
I suspect that is because we live in Scotland, and son_of_art is over the Atlantic. Scottish pagans, like many in Scotland generally, have sympathies with the Palestinians, and you really have to look hard in Scotland for anyone who will take a reflexively pro-Israel line.
I think that is the single scariest thing anyone has said to me! =8-o
I can see why someone living in the USA would have that perspective, but the UK in general (and especially Scotland) really doesn't have this culture of believing Israel is right, whatever it does. Pagans round here, reflecting the general culture, rarely take a blindly pro-Israel line. There are times when Israel rightly gets sympathy, but when Israel acts with the sort of belligerence it has displayed recently you will look long and hard for someone who will defend their actions. The British media is also not so inclined to collude in painting those who criticise Israel as "antisemitic" as some of the US media seem to be.
