Much snow here yesterday, and it still seems to be around today. Yesterday I woke up thinking that it had been quite cold during the night, but I didn’t think much more of it until I booted the computer and saw the entries by [livejournal.com profile] gillianbryce and [livejournal.com profile] brenmacneil, and then I looked outside.

Perhaps not the wisest thing to do, given the current state of my muscles, but we went out for a walk. Camp Hill was a bit of a slog, as the snow was about mid-calf depth in places, but it was worth it. Took some photographs, most of which I haven’t tweaked yet, but here’s one of two snowmen by the pond in Queens Park:

Quite a lot of people were photographing that.

Nearly came a cropper at one point, not because of snow or ice but because of the mud underlying it as we came down Camp Hill. (There is always mud up at the top of the hill; [livejournal.com profile] rhionnach is convinced there is a blind spring up there.)

We got the bus back; while we were waiting, we saw a gritting lorry being carted off by a recovery truck. Once we were back in the warmth, it seemed a good time to drink some of the old-fashioned ginger wine Caroline had given us a while. Nice.

I really evny you the snow. I know that we'd soon be moaning about it down here, but all we ever get is the cold weather;-) Had abit of sleet on saturday, but the snow's heart wasn't really in it. I love the photograph :-)) It's been years since we've had more than slush to sculpture such masterpieces. A gritting lorry been toed off by a recovery truck? That figures
