The judge has ruled in the “intelligent design” case in Dover, Pennsylvania, that it cannot be taught in American classrooms (from the New York Times:

A federal judge ruled today that a Pennsylvania school board’s policy of teaching intelligent design in high school biology class is unconstitutional because intelligent design is clearly a religious idea that advances “a particular version of Christianity.”

Judge Jones’s ruling included this pithy comment:

“We find that the secular purposes claimed by the Board amount to a pretext for the Board’s real purpose, which was to promote religion in the public school classroom, in violation of the Establishment Clause.”

That is one victory for sanity, anyway.
